This would also be Wi-Fi capable, able to run certain applications as well as video and audio.

This week the new version of the IPod Shuffle will be introduced, this next generation Shuffle is smaller in size, by almost half. The newest feature of this IPod is the ability to speak artist, song and playlist names.

This model is smaller than a AA battery and is equipped with a stainless steel clip so it can be attached and worn. There is no screen on this Shuffle making it an IPod that can only be used for music; podcasts and other audio files and the controls are on the earphone cord. The controls on the earphone cord allow adjusting the volume, a play button and a pause button.

According to a statement from Greg Joswiak the Vice President of the IPod and IPhone product marketing, this is a new approach to how people listen to music, with the Shuffle speaking the names of the songs, artists or playlists.

There are some big items being introduced according to a press event held by the Apple Corporation and their CEO Steve Jobs in San Francisco. This new line is being called “Lets Rock,” and they have also reduced the cost of the iPod Touch. During this Bay area event he also made public the new Nano video player, which is both thinner than the other Nano models as well as having a feature for the screen to change from vertical to horizontal depending on the why it is being held. The Nano will shuffle the play list by being shaken and there is also a brand new service for the Nano named Genius to recommend music and movies based on the users interests. The new Nano is 8 gigabyte and is being priced at the same price as the original model was and they now have storage capacity up to 16 gigabytes.
These new models will be coming out with a different type of headphone than the earbuds, these will sport in-ear headphones and the battery life has also improved with 24 hours of music and 6 hours of video.
Other things that have changed are the iPod classic that has 120 gigabytes of space that can hold as much as 30,000 songs. The iTouch that resembles the iPhone and the volume control has been made easier to adjust; there are an 8, 16 and 32 gigabyte choice with the iTouch. This comes on the heels of numerous new announcements concerning the iPhone at Demofall including Echo Nest, Rudder, SkyData and Telnic, among others. In an era in which the airlines have been cutting back on everything from free soda and snacks while making you pay extra for checking in a bag, it is good to know that at least that they are adding some services to their list:    It has been released in the news that United Airlines is setting up some of their aircrafts to accommodate passengers who want to use their iPods and iPhones.

    They plan to outfit their international flights with new entertainment systems that are equipped with a 30-pin connector that will attach to the dock connector on the iPod or iPhone.

   The system was developed by Panasonic Avionics and was scheduled for its first use on a flight from Washington D.C. to Zurich on June 16^th, there has been no report on how iPod users found this new way of using their iPods on the flight to date.

   United Airlines plans to have all of their international flights fitted with the new systems within the next two years. This service is planned to be installed in first class and in business class for passengers by the airlines.

The personal TV has approximately a 16-inch screen and with the docking connection it will allow passengers to watch their own programs and movies on a larger screen.

iPod Memory Order Cut, Is This an Indication of Slower Sales?

 Reports say that as of Wednesday of this week the Apple Corporation cut the amount of NAND flash memory for the 2008 year that iSuppli would have supplied Apple with for iPods and Iphones.

   The iSuppli company who supplies a large enough amount of this type of memory stated that it is felt the effect of this decrease in orders could be a warning that the Apple iPod sales will slow this year along with the rest of the ecconomy.

   This also could prove to be a deciding factor in the revenue of the iSuppli Company……… Apple spent an approximate $1.2 billion dollars on flash memory in the 2007 year, which is another indication with this cut in orders that the Apple iPod sales are expected to be slower this year.

   Prior to this announcement iSuppli had forecasted that the NAND flash memory orders would increase by approximately 32.2% and they had expected this would vastly increase their market growth.

   This comes as a surprise after the recent trade shows in which Apple brought their new iPods to the public with larger storage space and the information released about the long awaited movies that would be available on iTunes. This news should be interesting to watch,especially from an economic perspective in general.
